ANDREAS BÜHLER

Raised from childhood in idyllic Southern Germany, Andreas Bühler was captivated by the local music scene. One of his earliest decisions was to become a drummer and since that time, the drums have been his constant companion on the path to a variety of musical worlds. From classical training on the Mandolin, to A cappella singing, Andreas is at home with every style of music, while his true passion for percussion remains the main focus.

The most important musical influences on his playing include, Deep Purple, Iron Maiden and musicians such as Steve Gadd and Max Roach. Music school, private lessons, studies at the Swiss Jazz School Bern, and a scholarship to the Drummer’s Collective in New York allowed Andreas the opportunity to work with some of the world’s most talented drummers. His studies with Billy Brooks, Antonio Sanchez, Victoria Ifrim, Hansjörg Reichenbach, Pete Retzlaff, Kim Plainfield, Jan Fabricky and John Riley further helped to hone his rhythmic ability and skill.

The sum of these influences, along with his musical agility and energy, earned Andreas first prize at both the Drummer and Percussionist Competition in Altishofen and the Friedel-Wald-Foundation in Switzerland. Currently, he lives in Berlin. In addition to his job as a music teacher, he plays percussion for a variety of bands, cabarets, musicals and projects.
