XAVIER NUSSBAUM

Xavier Nussbaum has always impressed with his rich and energetic sounds on the saxophone. Hailing from the French speaking part of Switzerland, he began his musical studies at the Montreux Music School. At the age of 18, he discovered rock and funk while playing with the group Inside Marilyn. This was his first step into the music scene, as well as an introduction into a life of playing music.

After years of performing with the band Disfunction, as well as flute and clarinet studies at the Bern Conservatory, Xavier focused on saxophone at the Swiss Jazz School in Bern. He studied under the direction of George Robert, Andy Sherrer, and Bert Joris and graduated in 2004 with a degree in Saxophone and Clarinet.

During his studies, Xavier and three other musicians founded the band "Disfunkhorns", a powerful horn section that quickly became established as a group and made over 200 appearances. He has also played with A Few Good Men, Kid Creole and the Coconuts, and Turning Point. In 2005 he joined the band Bconnected and toured through Algeria, Tunisia and China.
